HOW IS CELIAC DISEASE CONFIRMED?

INFOPARENTS.COM: According to the Canadian Celiac Association, celiac disease can be difficult to recognoze since the symptoms are othen vague and non-specific, and vary from person to person. The diagnosis can only be made by an intestinal biopsy. Although reliable blood tests for celiac disease do exist, an intestinal biopsy is the only definitive way to make the diagnosis of Celiac disease. It is impotntt to note that curerently there are long delays in making the diagnosis of Celiac disease as it is thought to be rarer than it actually is. The earlier the confirmation the earlier the treatment can begin.
