TREATING MORNING SICKNESS

INFOPARENTS.COM: Here are some tips form the the The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada on how to help cope or control morning sickness:

  • When you first wake up, eat a few crackers and then rest for 15 minutes before getting out of bed
  • Get up slowly and do not lie down right after eating
  • Eat small meals or snacks often
  • Avoid spicy, fatty and fried foods
  • Open the windows and turn on the stove fan if cooking odours bother you
  • Try eating cold food instead of hot
  • Sniffing lemons or ginger can sometimes relieve an upset stomach
  • Eating salty potato chips can help

    Also, drink small amounts of fluids frequently during the day, and avoid drinking before and after a meal. Some foods may help releive nasue and they include: Chips, pickles, lemonade brown rice, mushroom soup, celery sticks, apple slices, mashed potatoes, juice, seltzer, sparkling water and crackers.

    It is also important to get plenty of rest especially during the first 3 months of the pregnancy.
