NAUSEA AND VOMITING DURING PREGNANCY(MORNING SICKNESS)

INFOPARENTS.COM: No one knows exactly what causes the nausea of pregnancy, although it may be related to hormonal changes, and usually appears at about the 6th week of pregnancy. Although it is referred to as "morning sickness", the nasuea and vomiting of pregnancy can occur any time during the day. Fortunately in most woman the nausea stops at about 12 weeks of pregnancy.

In about 1% of cases the vomtitng is so bad that the expecatnt mother may not be able to keep anything down. The medical term for this is "hyperemesis gravidarum", which can lead to dehydration requiring admission to hiospital for intra venous treatment.
